Fatemiyoun Brigade in Palmyra in 2016
After conducting a reverse image search, Misbar's team identified the photo as belonging to the Fatemiyoun Brigade in Palmyra, Syria. The image is credited to the Tasnim News Agency and was originally taken in 2016.
Tasnim News Agency reported that ISIS Takfiri elements tried to enter the historic city of Palmyra nine months after its liberation. However, they faced resistance from Fatemiyoun forces and the Syrian army, with Russian military air support. The terrorists were unable to achieve their objectives.
Fatemiyoun Brigade is composed of Shia Afghan refugees in Iran and members of the Hazara Shia minority in Afghanistan.
Nine to ten percent of Afghanistan's 38 million people are Hazaras. Thousands of Hazaras have migrated to Iran, where the government has enlisted them in the militia after being labeled as unbelievers by the Sunni Taliban and targeted in fatal attacks during the 1990s.
Israeli Forces Track 40,000 Militants Near Golan Heights Awaiting Hezbollah’s Orders
As reported by Haaretz on September 24, Israeli forces are closely monitoring approximately 40,000 volunteers and mercenaries from various Middle Eastern countries, including Iraq, Yemen, and Syria, who have gathered in Syria near the Golan Heights, waiting to be called upon by Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah to join the combat.
The security establishment in Israel claims that although these individuals are not expert fighters, there is still cause for concern. 'This is a risk we cannot take, and if necessary, we will also act in Syria to make it clear to Assad that we no longer accept their presence there,' a senior security official told Haaretz.
'They are not elite fighters, but the Hamas Nukhba forces were not professional either, and we have seen what a force of 2,000 to 3,000 armed men can do when they launch a surprise attack on a settlement,' he added.
Hassan Nasrallah Killed in Israeli Airstrike in Beirut
Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed by the Israeli military in an airstrike on Friday in Beirut, Lebanon, the militant group announced, signaling a significant escalation in hostilities.
Hezbollah promised to continue fighting Israel and referred to Nasrallah as a 'holy martyr.' The group claimed that following a 'treacherous Zionist airstrike on the southern suburbs,' its leader was slain.
Speaking on August 1 during the funeral of Fuad Shukr, the chief military commander of Hezbollah who was killed in an Israeli strike on the southern suburbs of Beirut, Nasrallah stated, 'We are facing a great battle.'
However, the struggle turned against his party last week when thousands of Hezbollah members were injured and many killed in what appeared to be an Israeli attack when their communications devices malfunctioned.
