Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the claim and found it to be misleading. The ring and the note did not belong to Hezbollah’s chief and were not found after his assassination.

An Outdated Image Depicted The Belongings Of An Iraqi Militia Leader

Following a thorough reverse image search, Misbar’s team found the photo outdated.

An X user named Muntazir AL_Sharae uploaded the image nine months before Israel escalated its military strike on Lebanon and assassinated Hassan Nasrallah, on January 5, captioning it, “What remained of our martyr the leader Abu Taqwa Mathal Qasem.”

The image was also shared by another X user on January 6 as a collage of two images showing two broken rings. The user said that one of the rings belonged to the Iranian military officer Qasem Soleimani and the other belonged to Abu Taqwa.

An Airstrike On Baghdad Kills Iraqi Militia Leader

Aligning with what we found online, Mushtaq Talib Al-Saeedi was killed by a U.S. airstrike in Baghdad, Iran, on January 4.

Following the strike, the Popular Mobilization Force - a coalition of militias that is nominally under the control of the Iraqi military - announced that its deputy head of operations in Baghdad, Mushtaq Taleb al-Saidi, or "Abu Taqwa," had been killed "as a result of brutal American aggression."

In the strike that targeted him, two people were killed and five were wounded.

The strike was two days after Israel killed Hamas deputy leader Saleh Arouri in the suburbs of Beirut.

Media outlets raised questions about whether Israel had involvement in the strike killing al-Saidi. However, Israeli officials declined to answer.

Hassan Nasrallah’s Body Was Recovered

Two days after the deadly and massive Israeli strike in Beirut that killed Hassan Nasrallah, his body has been recovered from the site of the attack and is intact, according to a medical and a security Reurers’ source.

According to Reuters, the body had no direct wounds and the cause of death appeared to be blunt trauma from the force of the blast.

After the strike, Israel released footage of eight F-151 fighter jets that participated in the strike. The video showed munitions resembling American-made BLU-109 penetrator bombs, which weigh 2,000 pounds, along with a JDAM guidance system.

The Israeli military claimed that the massive airstrike did not only kill Hezbollah’s leader but also two dozen other members of the group.

The strikes that killed Nasrallah were directed at a densely populated area and destroyed residential buildings. At least 33 people were killed and 195 were wounded, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health.
