Emerging story
Recently, social media users have been circulating a video claiming to document the escape of Lebanese Hezbollah members after being expelled by Lebanese citizens.
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating claim and found it to be misleading, as the video clip is from 2018 and does not document the expulsion of Lebanese Hezbollah members amid the ongoing aggression against Lebanon.
Clashes and Gunfire Occurred in Lebanon in 2018
Lebanese media outlets published the same footage on May 7, 2018, reporting that it showed clashes between supporters of the Independent Movement and supporters of Hezbollah in the Aisha Bakar neighborhood of Beirut, shortly after the announcement of the parliamentary election results in Lebanon.
The media reported that individuals on motorcycles raised party flags at the Rafik Hariri statue in the San George area, vandalized cars, and fired shots without causing any injuries. The same sources stated that the Lebanese army was forced to intervene and worked to calm the situation.
At that time, Interior Minister Nohad Machnouk issued a decision to ban motorcycles from operating in Beirut for 72 hours. The army command also warned citizens against any actions that could disrupt security and the firing of shots into the air.
The media office of Prime Minister Saad Hariri announced that Hariri contacted Army Commander General Joseph Aoun and Director General of Internal Security Forces Major General Imad Osman, requesting them to "address the chaos in Beirut and take necessary measures as quickly as possible before things get out of control."
Nabih Berri, the Speaker of Parliament and leader of the Amal Movement, condemned the abusive practices, stating, "We strongly condemn all the disgusting manifestations that occurred in some streets of the capital, where some hotheads insulted the Amal Movement and Hezbollah and their achievements." He emphasized that such practices are condemned by all standards.

On Monday, Israeli aircraft carried out multiple strikes in southern Lebanon and targeted the Cola area in the capital, Beirut.
The Lebanese army announced on Monday that a soldier was killed by Israeli drone fire targeting a motorcycle as it passed through a checkpoint in southern Lebanon.
As of the morning of September 30, Israeli airstrikes have resulted in the deaths of at least 962 people, including children and women, and injured 2,778 others, according to reports from Lebanese authorities.
