Minister of Defense and Mossad Chief Appear After Iranian Attack
Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Galant appeared multiple times following the Iranian attack on Israel on October 1. The day after the attack, Galant posted a photo on his X account, claiming it was from his visit to one of the bases involved in intercepting the Iranian assault.
On October 6, Galant shared a video stating it was from a meeting with fighters from the 36th Division operating in Lebanon.
Additionally, the Israeli military released a photo the day after the Iranian attack showing Mossad chief David Barnea alongside the Chief of Staff of the Israeli Defense Forces and the head of the Shin Bet security service. The image was taken during a situation assessment meeting at the General Staff headquarters to evaluate conditions following the attack.
Iran Fires Missiles at Israel
On October 1, Iran launched approximately 200 missiles, including ballistic missiles, at Israel. The Iranian government stated that this missile strike was in response to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and the killing of Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli airstrike on the southern suburbs of Beirut.
The Iranian missiles caused damage to several facilities in Tel Aviv and other locations, including the Nevatim military airbase.
After the attack, Iran warned Israel that it would respond by striking its infrastructure broadly and comprehensively if Israel retaliated at any time.
Israel Vows to Respond to Iran Missile Attack
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged on Saturday to respond to the Iranian attack, asserting that "Israel has the duty and the right to defend itself and respond to these attacks - and it will do so." In a press conference, he stated that Israel would confront all Iranian threats, noting that the country "suffered the largest attack in history, and no nation can accept that; therefore, it will respond."
Israeli media reported that the government has decided to launch a strong offensive against Iran, with preparations coordinated with Washington. Meanwhile, the Israeli military has heightened its alert status across all fronts in readiness to respond to the Iranian attack.
