Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the viral claim and found it to be misleading. The video has no relation to the war on Gaza.

The Video Shows a Little Syrian Girl Playing

Through a reverse Google image search, Misbar’s team found the video uploaded on TikTok on October 26 by a user named “userftdvvrl92i.”

No caption was added to the video confirming the location of the child or suggesting that she was in Gaza under the rubble.

However, the user later uploaded another clip of the child from a different angle, where she is seen looking through a hole in the house while the camera is positioned on the other side of the hole. Then, a wider angle of the home was provided where the hole appeared to be in the wall of an intact house, not a bombed house.

The user later confirmed that the child was safe, uploading a video of the girl looking through the hole along with the caption, “Thank God. There is nothing wrong with the girl. She was playing and looking through the hole in the house. She is not in Gaza but in Syria. Please, stop posting videos about her claiming she is under the rubble. There is nothing wrong with her, thank God.”

Palestinian Families Trapped Under The Rubble

As Israel besieged Jabalia and other northern parts of the Gaza Strip, many families have been killed and left under the rubble of the bombed buildings.

Reports of people trapped under the rubble and pleas of survivors of bombed families constantly come out of Gaza.

On October 16, the Israeli military bombed a residential home in southern Gaza. The home was flattened and five people were removed and pronounced dead while three remained missing under the rubble, according to Al Jazeera.

Pleas from besieged families in Gaza, especially Jabalia, have been coming out constantly.

On October 20, an Al Jazeera correspondent reported that pleas did not stop after Israel struck four residential homes in Jabalia over the heads of civilians without prior notice while the civil defense was trying to reach the trapped families but could not because of the rubble.

Serious Fears on The Life of Children In Gaza

After more than a year of the brutal Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, Gaza has been deemed as the deadliest place in the world for children by UNICEF.

At least 3,100 children aged under five have been killed in Gaza, 30% of them were younger than five, and 710 were babies aged under 12 months.

Many children have not been identified yet and thus are not included in the details of the death toll released by the Gaza Health Ministry. The number of unidentified children is estimated at 2,800.

Israeli strikes are not the only threat that haunts the lives of children in Gaza; famine and malnutrition also ravage their bodies as well as the bodies of nursing and pregnant mothers.

Save the Children screened nearly 3,000 children under 5 and found that nearly 20% of them were suffering from moderate acute malnutrition and nearly 4% from severe acute malnutrition, according to the last assessment released on October 10, 2024.
