Emerging story
Against the backdrop of the Israeli invasion of Lebanon, social media users widely shared a short video clip alleging to feature an Israeli military funeral after Hezbollah eliminated them.

Mibsar investigated the viral video and found the claim to be misleading.
Misbar’s thorough investigation found that the video is from an Israeli protest.
The Video Was Shot During a Protest, Not a Military Funeral in Israel
Contrary to social media users’ viral claim, the video does not depict a real Israeli military funeral.
Misbar's investigative team found an identical scene from the footage uploaded to X on September 4, 2024.
According to the publisher, the photo shows Israelis protesting the death of six Israeli captives in Gaza outside the residence of Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen.
Israeli Military Says They Recovered the Bodies of Six Captives Held in Gaza
The protest followed Israel's announcement of recovering the bodies of six hostages from Gaza on September 1, 2024.
The Israeli military announced they found the bodies of captives, including a dual U.S. national, from an underground tunnel in Rafah, southern Gaza.
The hostages are Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23, Eden Yerushalmi, 24, Ori Danino, 25, Alex Lubnov, 32, Carmel Gat, 40, and Almog Sarusi, 25.
According to the military, the captives were killed shortly before their recovery. However, senior Hamas official Izzat al-Risheq disputed this claim, stating that the captives were killed in Israeli airstrikes.
He further accused the U.S. of supporting Israel in its ongoing offensive against Gaza since October 7.
Israel’s Ground Invasion of Southern Lebanon
Israel launched its ground operations in Lebanon on October 1. Despite Israel describing these actions as "limited," many in Lebanon view them as a full-scale invasion, following numerous unprecedented Israeli attacks on Hezbollah and the civilian population.
Since October 8, a day after the war on Gaza began, Hezbollah and Israel have been locked in cross-border clashes, with escalations last month marked by Israel's relentless bombing campaigns.
Hezbollah, which has suffered heavy losses, including the killing of its secretary general, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, continues to engage with Israeli forces in border areas.
According to The Times of Israel, attacks on northern Israel over the past year have resulted in the deaths of 28 civilians, while 43 IOF soldiers have been killed in these attacks and the subsequent ground operations in Lebanon.
The Lebanese government has reported that Israeli strikes have killed over 2,448 people in Lebanon during the same period.
