Several X users further alleged that an Al-Qassam sniper shot Herzi Halevi's son in the spine in northern Gaza.

Misbar investigated the viral photo and found the claim to be misleading.
A thorough reverse image search found that the photo shows an injured American Israeli soldier, not Halevi's injured son.
Outdated Photo Shows Herzi Halevi Visiting IOF Wounded Soldiers
The photo does not feature Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi along with his son after an Al-Qassam sniper shot his son in Northern Gaza.
The photo shows General Herzi Halevi visiting the Israeli military wounded soldiers treated at the Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer in May 2024.
The IOF’s official X account released the original photo and other photos on May 14, 2024. According to the post’s translated caption, the photos feature the Chief of Staff, Major General Herzi Halevi, visiting the wounded soldiers at the Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer.
Misbar’s team also found the photo published on May 18, 2024, by the Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer’s Facebook account.
According to the center, the injured person seen in the photos is Yona Brief, who is an American Israeli soldier and medic in the Duvdevan unit.
The Sheba Medical Center also clarified that Yona was injured twice in May 2023 and October 2023, with the second injury causing him to lose both of his legs.
Herzi Halevi: The Israeli Chief of General Staff
Herzi Halevi is the Israeli Occupying Forces (IOF) chief of the General Staff. He took charge on January 16, 2023, after the Israeli cabinet approved his appointment in October 2022.
Israel's Channel 12 reported that Halevi intends to step down by the end of this year, pending the findings of ongoing investigations into the IOF's response to the October 7 Operation.
According to the report, Halevi shared his decision privately with close associates, suggesting that he feels December 2024 is an appropriate time to announce his resignation.
Israel's Deadly Attack on North Gaza
Israel launched a relentless military campaign in Northern Gaza that deepened the severe humanitarian crisis in the region. The Israeli military concentrated the attacks around the Jabaliya refugee camp since early October.
Local authorities declared Beit Lahiya in North Gaza a “disaster area” on Wednesday following overnight extensive airstrikes.
