Misbar’s Analysis

Misbar investigated the circulating video and found the claim to be misleading.

Misbar's team found that the video is unrelated to the U.S. election. It was uploaded to YouTube on December 11, 2019, and is titled translated as: " Fireworks 10/12/19 Casa Rosada Asuncion Alberto Fernandez and Cristina Fernandez."

The video was uploaded the day following the inauguration of Argentina's Peronist leader, Alberto Fernandez, as president on December 19, 2019. Supporters convened in the historic Plaza de Mayo, located in the heart of Buenos Aires, facing the pink-colored Casa Rosada palace while displaying banners.

Trump Elected President Again Amidst Transition Plans

The circulation of the claim came after Republican Donald Trump was elected as the United States' president-elect, having secured sufficient Electoral votes for a remarkable return to the White House following four years in opposition. His Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris, has formally conceded, acknowledging the results to her supporters and pledging to facilitate a smooth transition of power.

Global leaders have extended their congratulations to Trump, as his team prepares to announce staffing decisions in the upcoming days and weeks. Republicans are celebrating their victory in gaining control of the U.S. Senate, although the situation regarding control of the House of Representatives remains uncertain.

Concerns Rise Among Palestinians and Lebanese as Trump Prepares for Second Term

Palestinian and Lebanese civilians are preparing for further devastation once Donald Trump commences his second term as president of the United States in January. While millions of Trump supporters are celebrating his election, many individuals in the Middle East are watching with anxiety. In Gaza, the occupied West Bank, and Lebanon, there are concerns that Trump, a staunch ally of Israel, will empower Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his far-right coalition government to intensify regional wars and undermine any hopes for Palestinian self-determination.

“I have no trust in America,” stated Abu Ali, an 87-year-old resident of Gaza who has been displaced from his home, much like many others in the area. “I expect the situation in Gaza to deteriorate even further under Trump,”he added.

The outgoing administration of U.S. President Joe Biden has shown support for Israel during its operations in Gaza. Since October 7, 2023, Israel's military actions against Palestinians in Gaza—supported by U.S. weaponry—have led to the deaths of over 43,000 Palestinians and displaced nearly the entire population of 2.3 million.
