Old Video of a Palestinian Waving Moroccan Flag in Jerusalem Recirculates

Contrary to social media users’ viral claim, the video is not recent and unrelated to recent clashes between pro-Palestine protesters and Israelis in Amsterdam.

Misbar traced the original video back to December 10, 2022, uploaded to Instagram by the cyclist.

The video was shot in the Damascus Gate, Jerusalem, during the 2022 football World Cup.

Dutch Police Break Up Pro-Palestinian Rally After Amsterdam Clashes

Israeli football fans clashed with pro-Palestinian protesters during the Europa League match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax in Amsterdam.

Violence erupted outside the Johan Cruyff Arena, Ajax's home stadium, on Thursday night and spread to other areas of the city.

Police deployed after someone tore down a Palestinian flag from a building. Social media videos captured Israeli fans chanting anti-Arab slogans.

Amsterdam city council members reported that Israeli fans initiated the violence by attacking Palestinian supporters upon arriving in the city.

Prosecutors said that four suspects, including two minors, remained in custody on suspicion of violent acts. Authorities issued fines to 40 individuals for public disturbances and to 10 others for offenses such as vandalism.

In response to the clashes, riot police in Amsterdam dispersed a pro-Palestinian protest on Sunday after a court upheld a three-day ban on demonstrations.
