The Netherlands Public Prosecution Service reported that on the evening of May 5, police were alerted to a fight at Bijlmer-Arena station around 9:30 p.m. A man allegedly faced an attack from a group of youths who punched and kicked him, causing him to fall onto the train tracks. The incident had a significant impact, especially as a festival was taking place nearby for Liberation Day, resulting in a larger-than-usual crowd at Bijlmer-Arena that night, with many witnesses to the altercation. When the police arrived, the victim was missing. Despite extensive media coverage, he has not come forward, and his identity remains unknown. Using security footage and witness accounts, the police identified and apprehended several suspects. The individual appearing in court today was 18 at the time of the brawl and turned 19 shortly thereafter. He is the only adult among the suspects, which is why his case is being prosecuted publicly.

Clashes Erupt Between Israeli Fans and Pro-Palestinian Protesters in Amsterdam

The circulation of the claim came after Israeli football fans clashed with pro-Palestinian demonstrators before and after the Europa League match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax in Amsterdam.

The confrontations occurred outside the Johan Cruyff Arena, along with other locations on Thursday night, where Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters had gathered. According to reports, hundreds of fans held a loud rally in the main square, displaying Israeli flags and taking down a Palestinian flag.

The police had heightened their vigilance due to recent politically charged incidents, including the removal of a Palestinian flag from a building. Video footage showed Israeli supporters chanting racist and profane slogans.

An Amsterdam city council member stated that Israeli fans initiated the violence by attacking Palestinian supporters upon arriving in the city. Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that 10 Israelis sustained injuries. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office did not specify the events leading to what they described as a "very violent incident against Israeli citizens."
