Outdated Photo Shows Aftermath of Attack on Concert Hall in Moscow
Contrary to social media users’ claim, the photo does not depict the aftermath of Hezbollah’s attack on Israel’s military headquarters.
The photo shows an attack that occurred on a concert hall in March 2024 in Moscow, Russia.
Misbar found the photo uploaded to published articles on March 22, 2023. Jordan Daily published the original photo under the article’s title: “Shooting and blast reported inside concert hall in Moscow region.”
Another local media outlet reported the attack and uploaded the photo on March 23, 2024.
133 Killed in Attack on Crocus City Hall in Moscow
According to Russian security services, gunmen attacked a concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow, killing at least 133 people and injuring 140 others on March 22, 2024.
The attackers targeted Crocus City Hall, located in the north-western suburb of Krasnogorsk, just before a rock concert was set to begin.
The assailants stormed the foyer and then entered the theater, setting much of the building on fire and causing part of the roof to collapse.
Reports indicate that children were also among the casualties. The Russian foreign ministry condemned the attack as a “terrorist attack.”
The Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the attack, but Moscow has attempted to link the attack to Ukraine and the West.
Hezbollah Says It Targeted Israel's Military HQ with Missiles and Drones
Hezbollah said on Wednesday that it targeted the Israeli military headquarters in Tel Aviv with a barrage of ballistic missiles and drones.
The Lebanese group stated it launched a wave of advanced precision-guided drones at the Kirya base in Tel Aviv, “hitting its targets accurately.”
Hezbollah added that the Kirya base houses the military headquarters, the General Staff, the War Command Center, and the air force's control and surveillance authority.
Hezbollah issued another statement later that evening, reporting an additional strike on Israel’s Kirya base using Qader 2 ballistic missiles, which also “hit their targets with precision.”
Israel’s new military minister, Israel Katz, declared on Sunday that Israel had defeated Hezbollah and that eliminating its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, would be the crowning achievement.
Katz also stated recently that “disarming Hezbollah” is a key war goal.
