November 2023 Rocket Strikes on Kiryat Shmona
Misbar's team found that the image in question is not recent as claimed; it dates back to November 2023. It depicts damage on multiple buildings and vehicles in Kiryat Shmona, a city in northern Israel, as a result of rocket impacts from Qassam Brigades.
Hamas confirmed via Telegram that on November 2, 2023, its military wing, the Qassam Brigades, launched 12 rockets targeting Kiryat Shmona and the surrounding areas in northern Israel.
Hezbollah Launches Drone Attack on Tel Aviv
The circulation of the claim came after Hezbollah announced it executed a drone attack on Israelās military headquarters and Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv on Wednesday. The Lebanese militant group described the operation as an āaerial attack with a squadron of exploding dronesā aimed at Israelās primary defense institutions.
Furthermore, Hezbollah stated it targeted five military bases in and around Haifa, northern Israel. This announcement followed claims from the Israeli army that two people were injured when a rocket struck a synagogue in Haifa. Hezbollah indicated its fighters aimed at a ātechnical base,ā the Haifa naval base, the Stella Maris naval base, and two other bases near Haifa, one of which is home to āan Israeli enemy army gas station,ā using simultaneous āsalvos of missiles.ā
In response, the Israeli military reported two injuries resulting from a rocket attack on the synagogue, describing it as part of a āheavy rocket barrageā by Hezbollah. A military statement characterized this as a clear example of Hezbollahās intentional targeting of Israeli civilians. Separately, the Israeli army stated it intercepted some of the āapproximately 10 projectilesā that crossed from Lebanon into Israel.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for several rocket attacks on northern Israel, including military sites in the Haifa area. Air raid sirens were activated in Haifa and neighboring communities, with Israelās emergency service, Magen David Adom, reporting no victims from rocket shrapnel but noting that five individuals, aged between 16 and 70, suffered mild injuries while seeking shelter and were subsequently hospitalized.
Additionally, the Israeli army announced the death of a soldier killed during combat in southern Lebanon, bringing the total number of Israeli troops killed in confrontations with Hezbollah since September 30 to 48, coinciding with Israel's deployment of ground forces into Lebanon.
