Emerging story
Social media users widely shared a photo claiming to show Israel’s most dangerous marksman, recently killed by Al-Qassam Brigades in Gaza with a single bullet. Moreover, social media users have been circulating the same story since June 2024.
Recently, an X user shared the photo with the caption, “A single bullet from a Qassam sniper ends the career of Israel’s most dangerous marksman. Nicknamed 'The Wolf,' 'The Yellow Death,' and 'The Predatory Falcon,' he was one of Israel’s most lethal snipers…”
Misbar’s Analysis
Misbar investigated the circulating photo and found the claim to be misleading.
After conducting a thorough reverse image search, Misbar’s team found the photo making the rounds to show an Israeli soldier deployed on the Lebanon-Israel border, unrelated to Gaza battles.
Photo Shows Israeli Soldier Deployed on the Lebanon-Israel Border
Misbar’s investigative team traced the original photo back to January 14, 2024. Reuters uploaded the photo, showing an Israeli soldier standing by a mobile artillery unit near the Israel-Lebanon border.
Misbar’s investigative team further examined news reports that “Israel’s most lethal/dangerous marksman” was killed in Gaza and found no reliable sources to back the baseless claim.
Al-Qassam’s Recent Sniper Operations in Gaza
Misbar’s team looked into recent shooting operations conducted by the Palestinian Resistance in Gaza amid the Israeli war on Gaza.
On November 16, Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, released a video showing a sniper shooting an Israeli soldier south of the Al-Zeitoun neighborhood. Al-Qassam announced the operation in cooperation with Al-Ansar Brigades.
On November 17, Al-Qassam Brigades published footage showing Israeli soldiers being targeted and shot northwest of Gaza City.
The footage captured a Qassam fighter precisely targeting an Israeli soldier, who was shot and immediately fell to the ground.
Furthermore, Al-Qassam Brigades announced on November 21 that its fighters clashed with an Israeli force of 15 soldiers and killed them in Beit Lahia, in the northern Gaza Strip.
Hezbollah Fires Barrage of Missiles on Israel After Deadly Beirut Strike
According to the Israeli military, Hezbollah fired around 250 rockets and other projectiles into Israel, wounding seven Israelis.
Israeli military radio reported that Hezbollah launched 340 missiles from Lebanon, reaching Tel Aviv, in the heart of Israel.
Hezbollah’s recent barrage of rockets came in retaliation for deadly Israeli airstrikes in Beirut while negotiators continued efforts to broker a ceasefire to end the all-out war on Lebanon.
The Israeli attack killed at least 29 people in central Beirut, with 66 others wounded, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health.
According to the health ministry, Israeli airstrikes have killed over 3,500 people in Lebanon since the Israeli war began.
