The image of the American singer was created using artificial intelligence software.

In addition, no media outlets shared recent photos of the singer posing with a Palestinian flag during her concerts.

Misbar's investigative team identified several inconsistencies in the image, confirming it as AI-generated. A close examination revealed that Eilish's hand only has three fingers, a flaw typical of AI generation software. 

Furthermore, the singer's eyes and jawline lack accurate detailing. The red triangle at the hoist of the flag also appears inaccurately drawn.

Misbar’s team used the AI Image Detector software to analyze the image and found a high likelihood, around 70%, that it was AI-generated.

On March 10, 2024, the Gaza war became a focal point on the red carpet as Hollywood stars showed their solidarity with the Palestinian people by wearing symbolic pins at the 96th Annual Academy Awards in California.

Singer Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O'Connell donned red Artists4Ceasefire pins. The organization urged President Biden and Congress at the time to advocate for an immediate ceasefire and de-escalation in Gaza.

“The pin symbolizes collective support for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the release of all of the hostages and for the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza,” the organization said in a press release.

In 2024, artificial intelligence significantly influenced the digital landscape, with AI-generated images and videos going viral on social media.

This rise in AI-driven content aligned with several major global events that Misbar investigated throughout the year, including the Israeli war on Gaza, the Israeli-Hezbollah conflict, protests in the United Kingdom, clashes in Syria, and the U.S. elections. 

While AI-generated images can appear strikingly realistic, their use to propagate false narratives underscores the importance of media literacy and critical thinking.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, Israel's barbaric war on Gaza claimed the lives of over 45,436 Palestinians and left 108,038 others wounded since October 7.
