Gaza War

Gaza War

The Israeli war on the Gaza Strip began on October 7, 2023. This was after Al-Qassam Brigades, the military arm of the Hamas movement, announced the implementation of a military operation called “Al-Aqsa Flood.” The operation targeted military barracks and settlements in the Gaza envelope and led to the killing of about 1,400 Israelis. Dozens of soldiers and settlers were captured.

Israel's war on the Gaza Strip claimed the lives of more than 13,000 Palestinians, more than 75 percent of whom were children and women, in addition to wounding more than 30,000 people. The Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip led to the displacement of about one and a half million Palestinians inside the Strip and caused devastating damage to infrastructure and homes. During the war, Israel targeted hospitals, putting most of them out of service. Several massacres were committed against civilians, most notably: the Baptist Hospital massacre, the Jabalia massacre, the Al-Fakhoura School massacre, and other massacres that claimed the lives of hundreds of residents of the Gaza Strip.
